Century Aluminum Vlissingen Operations

Made in the Netherlands

Century’s facility in Vlissingen, The Netherlands, produces carbon anodes for our smelter in Iceland, where they are used in our smelting process. The close connection between these two facilities achieves efficiency, consistency, and high-quality results.

Expanded Operations

After acquiring the facility in June 2012, Century started production in late 2013. It achieved an initial capacity of 75,000 tonnes.

In 2015, we completed an expansion project that increased annual capacity to 145,000 tonnes. Most recently, in 2019, we rebuilt and expanded one of the facility’s baking furnaces, which is expected to further boost annual carbon anode production by an additional 12,000 tonnes, bringing total capacity to approximately 161,000 tonnes.
