Our work matters at home and around the world. We know we make a difference.

Every day, our work brings into focus our purpose: to responsibly produce the aluminum the world needs. Our metal goes into consumer products like smart phones, home appliances, packaging and cars. It also goes into community resources like housing, transportation, energy infrastructure and national defense. Our work matters at home and around the world. We know we make a difference.”

OUR CARE VALUES IN ACTION

CARE
AGILITY
RESPONSIBILITY
EXCELLENCE

We create strong partnerships with the communities surrounding our plants. We launched CenturyCares in Mt. Holly, S.C. to give back to programs that support education, families and the environment.  In Sebree, Kentucky, neighbors farm on our property adjacent to the smelter, growing hundreds of acres of soybean and corn. Here are ways our efforts have been recognized.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our teams are responsible for mining, refining and smelting processes.

  1. Our lands & mines team finds and collects bauxite from soil.
  2. At our refinery, our employees oversee the transformation of bauxite to alumina, a white powder. This process includes testing and measuring for quality.
  3. At our smelters,  employees make carbon anodes and lower them into pots that turn alumina into high‑quality primary aluminum. Our products must meet precise quality grades required by customers. A team of employees form aluminum into solid shapes suitable for shipping, e.g. billets, ingots and sows.

We produce primary aluminum is the purest form of aluminum, and it’s the starting point for most aluminum products in the world. Our customers are manufacturers who further refine and customize the metal for industrial use. After it leaves our facilities, our customers melt it down and shape it into the parts used in almost every major industry.

  • Transportation: car frames, engine parts, wheels, aircraft bodies, and train components
  • Clean Energy: solar panel frames, wind turbine parts, power grid wiring
  • Construction: window frames, roofing, siding, and building support structures
  • Defense & Aerospace: lightweight armor, military vehicles, aircraft components
  • Consumer Goods: appliances, electronics, packaging, cans, and household products

Aluminum combines pliability and strength, which are highly sought-after attributes in industries such as national security, energy transition, transportation, consumer technology and infrastructure. It is also lighweight, which improves efficiency in many uses. And, it is infinitely recyclable without losing its structural integrity.

Despite being abundant in nature, it is difficult to produce it in a usuable form — making efficient, reliable aluminum facilities vital and our workers essential.

Aluminum is essential to almost everything we rely on today, from smart cars and electronics to packaging. It’s also a critical metal for the clean energy transition, used in solar panels, transmission lines and electric vehicles. As demand increases, the world needs more primary aluminum, which is in short supply worldwide.

This means there is more demand for our products, and a need for workers who work in critical metals.
