This work extends to the construction of a smelter, the first aluminum manufacturing plant to be built in the U.S. in a generation to accelerate our nation’s energy transformation. This project was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (“DOE”) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to begin award negotiations for up to $500 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act funding, as an extension of the Industrial Demonstrations Program (“IDP”).
