We strive to minimize the environmental impact from our operations as well as promoting the responsible use of energy and raw materials. We are committed to pursuing the highest possible environmental standards across all of our operations, as evidenced by our continued focus on reducing the carbon footprint of our aluminum products and working to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. We strive to effectively manage our impact on the environment through a variety of methods including the use of renewable resources to generate power for certain of our operations, the use of our low-carbon products, the responsible and efficient management of any hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and the sustainable recycling and disposal of aluminum and other by-products produced during the aluminum production process.
We have adopted policies and procedures for each of our operations setting out our values and expectations requiring full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Our Nordural Grundartangi facility has achieved ASI Certification for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminum. From Nordural we offer Natur-AlTM, a low carbon aluminum product line with one the lowest CO2 footprints in the world . In addition, in the United States, 100% of our electric power needs at both of our Kentucky operations are supplied by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) grid, which is increasingly relying on renewable energy sources.
